Pre-K Registration

Applications are now available for state’s Pre-K Lottery

The Rhode Island Department of Education has just announced that applications are now available for its Prekindergarten Lottery. If you live in Pawtucket  and if you have a child who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2018, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

If your child is chosen by lottery, which will be held in early July, he or she will receive a high-quality prekindergarten education at no cost to you.  The lottery is open to all residents in Pawtucket, regardless of income. Classrooms reflect the income distribution of the community.

The prekindergarten program day is six hours long. State prekindergarten funding does not pay for before or after-child care, but if you need that service, all of the programs can help you find a licensed program, and many of them accept state child-care assistance funds.

Applications can be completed online, or downloaded here: (English application or Spanish application) and delivered directly to the participating Pre-K programs.

Applications must be received by June 30, 2018. You can download the answers to frequently asked questions in English or in Spanish.
