Centers |
Centers are used in our classroom during "Guided Reading". Guided reading is when I take small groups of students to teach reading. The remainder of the students are expected to be working in small groups. My students are introduced gradually to the various activities that they will be expected to do independently that reinforce reading and writing. Some activities may change on a weekly basis, while others remain the same. The following are examples of the centers that I will use during this literacy block throughout the year: library, listening, ABC, writing, buddy reading, reading response journal, browsing box, poem box, "read the room", pocket chart, and word games. I will also use centers to reinforce our math, social studies, and science curriculum.
