Message from the Principal
Dear Parents:

Wow, May already, but with the late end of school this year on June 26, we still have 8 ½ weeks of school remaining and lots of things left for our students to learn. Many things they have learned during the year will be tested during May, with DIBELS Reading tests, SMI Math tests, and the District’s Writing Prompt being given during this month. In addition, Gr. 4 students only will be participating in three days of state NECAP Science testing (separate info sent to Gr. 4 parents before testing on this). Please encourage your child to work hard all month, especially on these many assessments.

Our families have been extremely generous with some of the fundraisers we have held for worthy causes this year. Our final totals for the Pennies for Patients collection was $1750.87, and the Jump Rope for Heart Program raised $2149.00. We are asking your help again to support the Food Drive being sponsored by the School Lunch Program provider, the Sodexho Company, during the week of April 29-May 3. The donated food will go to needy families in Pawtucket. All donations will be accepted, but a flyer will be sent to parents with “suggested” food items for each grade so we can get a variety of food items for the cause. Thank you for your continued support of these community causes.

A reminder once again that the front parking lot is off limits to cars for drop off and pick up before 8:30 and from 2:40-3:00. This is for safety reasons and for efficient passage and pick up of students by buses and daycare vans. In addition, no child (except bus students) should be entering the building through the front door unless they are late for school after 8:30. All students should enter either though attending the breakfast program, at their classroom door at 8:30, or at one of the two doors for students arriving between 8:10-8:30. Remember that there is no supervision of students before 8:10 and they should not be on school grounds before that time.

We hope to have some updated news before June on the new playground. In the meantime, as mentioned often, the children are NOT ALLOWED on the old playground due to it not being safe enough for proper use.

Mid Term Progress Reports for the 3rd Trimester will be sent on May 6. Please make sure to ask your child for this on that day.

Lifetouch School Picture Company will be at Little on May 13. Only children who bring in money to purchase a picture package will have their pictures taken on that day. More information on this will be sent in early May.

On May 15, and again on June 12, two of our 4th Graders who were finalists in the Sodexho Healthy Recipe Contest will have their recipes served during school lunches that day. Encourage your children to choose that lunch choice and eat healthy that day.
