We have so many outstanding students at Baldwin and that is how the "Let Your Light Shine" program got started. Faculty and staff can recognize students showing outstanding characteristics. When a student is nominated their name is announced over the intercom for all to hear, and to show all our students that their good behaviors and characteristics will be rewarded. The list of recognized character traits and what they stand for is listed below.
RESPECT Showing high regard for an authority, other people, self and country. Treating others as you would want to be treated. Understanding that other people have value as human beings.
SELF-DISCIPLINE Demonstrating hard work, controlling emotions, words, actions, impulses, and desires. Giving your best in all situations.
INTEGRITY A firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. Being honest, trustworthy, and incorruptible.
FAIRNESS Practicing justice, equity and equality. Cooperating with one another. Recognizing the uniqueness and value of each individual within our diverse society.
PERSEVERANCE Pursuing worthy objectives with determination and patience while exhibiting fortitude or courage when confronted with failure.
CARING Showing understanding of others by treating them with kindness, compassion, generosity and a forgiving spirit.
COURAGE Doing the right thing in the face of difficulty and following own conscience instead of the crowd.
HONESTY Telling the truth, admitting wrongdoing. Being trustworthy and acting with integrity.
RESPONSIBILITY Being accountable in word and deed. Having a sense of duty to fulfill tasks with reliability, dependability, and commitment.
PATRIOTISM/CITIZENSHIP A love for and loyalty to one's country. Being law abiding and involved in service to school, community, and country.
