WELCOME BACK!!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and restful summer. A special welcome to all of our new Freshmen. Now that we have our first graduation behind us, we will focus on our current seniors to help them through the financial aid and college application process. We are also very excited about the launch of our new website at: www.jmwschool.net. It is just about live and should be fully running very shortly.

Here are some important dates for the month:

Our first PTO/SIT meeting will be held on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 at 6:30 pm here at JMW. WE HOPE THAT MANY NEW PARENTS WILL ATTEND!

LABOR DAY NO SCHOOL

There will be no school on Monday, September 7, 2009 to celebrate Labor Day.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING

THE NEXT SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2009 AT 6:00 PM AT THE JENKS MEDIA CENTER. IT WILL BE IMPORTANT ONCE AGAIN TO HAVE MANY OF US ATTEND IN SUPPORT OF OUR SCHOOL AND THE MANY OTHER WORTHY PROGRAMS IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.

COMMON PLANNING DAYS

The Common Planning Release Days for the month of September will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 and Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Students will be dismissed following period 5 each of those days.

JMW OPEN HOUSE

OUR ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE WILL TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2009 AT 6:30 PM. MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW.

All students in the Rhode Island public schools must submit a portfolio for graduation with work they have completed. Some of these are called "common tasks". All of their submissions are compared and scored by a rubric and then entered electronically through their four years of high school. The Portfolio Based Graduation Requirements are mandatory for all Rhode Island high school students to graduate.
