Today we celebrated the incredible students and faculty of Winters Elementary at the “Get Food Smart Program” Award Ceremony!

Since September 2025, Winters Elementary has reduced student food waste by an amazing 46% and diverted more than 7 tons of food waste from ending up in our landfill.

These accomplishments reflect the hard work, teamwork, and commitment of our entire school community to creating a more sustainable future. We are so proud of our students and staff for leading by example and showing how small actions can make a big impact.

Thank you to the RI School Recycling Project, RI DEM, and the City of Pawtucket for the recognition and congratulations to everyone recognized today for their dedication and effort in making Winters Elementary a smarter, greener school!
