Goff Families,
We are about to begin another school year. We are excited to welcome over 640 students back into our building on Wednesday August 30th. I look forward to a tremendous school year which will focus on ensuring all students, staff and families are part of the Gladiator Nation!
I want to share that Goff Middle School is in the process of having all the windows replaced over two years. Work has begun on the building and will continue for the next month. This is such an exciting project for our community.
This school year we will focus on Goff Pride- Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Learn. These guiding principles will ensure that Goff Middle School will continue to foster a community of engagement, kindness and excellence.
The following information will provide you and your child with information about our school reopening. Postcards will be sent home tomorrow (Friday) with information regarding your child’s advisory room, teacher and team they are placed on. Students will report to their advisory classroom on the first day of school. Staff members will also be stationed outside and inside the building to ensure students are able to locate their classroom. Please know that we are here to answer any questions and support you and your child in any way.
School Hours: School hours are 8:00 am to 2:30 pm each day. We ask that you please call the school at 401.729.6500 if your child is going to be absent. If your child has a medical appointment, you must bring a note from the doctor so that the absence is excused. Automated phone calls will be made to those students who are absent or tardy and have not been excused.
School Supplies: Your child will be provided with specific supplies needed by each teacher during the first week of school. Students will need notebooks, pens, pencils and folders at minimum.
School Schedule
Goff Middle School will follow a 8 drop 1 schedule. Your child will have 8 classes but only meet with 7 classes each day. One class will drop each day with the exception of SUPERCORE.
I have included a rotation calendar and 7 day schedule to help you prepare your child. Your child will receive multiple copies of their schedule and their schedule will be accessible on Skyward this weekend.
Goff Middle School Rotation Calendar
Gladiator Gazette: Every week, you will receive a newsletter which will include upcoming events, pertinent information and a recap of the prior week. The newsletter will be sent via ROBOCALL and also available on our Goff Facebook page.
Breakfast: All students will have the opportunity to have breakfast at school. Those students who choose to have breakfast should enter through door #2 (Vine St) at 7:40 am.
Arrival and Dismissal: In order to ensure an orderly arrival and dismissal, we ask that NO students be dropped off in the school parking lots. Students should be dropped off on Carter Ave or Vine Street, depending on their entry door. Please do not block a resident’s driveway, park in any local business or the bus parking lane on Pullen Ave. Do not stop to drop-off or pick-up a student on Newport Ave. All traffic coming off Newport Ave onto Vine St must drop their child off along the blue line on the sidewalk. Please pull up as far as possible. Once your child is dropped off you must take a left turn onto Littlefield St.
Please be sure that your child is not on school grounds before 7:50 am unless they are entering for breakfast. All students will enter the building at 7:55 am and exit the building at 2:30 pm. Students who take a school or childcare bus will report to their bus dismissal location prior to dismissal to check-in and prepare for their departure. The following are the entrance and exit doors for students:
Late to School: Students are tardy if they are not in their classrooms, at their desks by 8:00 am. Students who arrive after 8:00 am must report to Door 1 (Newport Ave) to check-in and receive a tardy slip from the main office. Please be sure to send your child in with a note if they are late due to an appointment.
Early Dismissal: A photo ID is required to dismiss your child at all times. No child will be dismissed without proper identification; NO exceptions can be made. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of our students. Additionally, only adults listed in our student information system (Skyward) can pick up a student. To add or remove names from Skyward, please contact the main office. Students MAY NOT call home from private cell phones for dismissal. Students must be seen by the nurse if they are unwell or the Main Office if there is an urgent family situation.
Skyward: We are asking all families to ensure they can access our student information system (Skyward). All students will also have access to Skyward. This system provides opportunities to change contact information, review student grades, attendance and discipline. Directions to access Skyward are linked here.

Backpacks and electronic devices are kept in the student’s locker. Lost or broken locks are replaced for $10.

Gladiator Nation,
I want to remind families to not park in any business parking lot around Goff Middle School for drop-off or pick-up. Students can be dropped off or picked up on Vine St, Carter Ave, or Pullen Ave via the blue line.
ACCESS testing began last week for our MLL students. We have had phenomenal attendance and effort from our students. This is a testament to our students, staff, and families. Thank you as we continue to finish this important assessment for our MLL students.
As a reminder from last week, all Goff students will take the winter i-Ready Diagnostic beginning on February 1st. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts the questions that are asked dependent on each student. If a student answers questions correctly then the questions will increase in difficulty. Students are not given a grade for this diagnostic but it help tailor a child’s individual pathway to build skills. For more information please visit the i-Ready family center.
On Friday, January 27th Goff Middle School will once again offer the snacks2go program in conjunction with Aramark. This will allow our students to purchase healthy snacks. This program will continue twice per month. Only cash will be accepted
Finally, I want to once again remind families that the first semester comes to a close on January 26th. This will conclude the first half of the school year and this grade will determine credit. The minimum passing grade is 65. Students who do not receive credit will be enrolled in a credit recovery course beginning in February with more information to follow. Please be sure to check your child’s grades on Skyward and contact the appropriate staff member should any questions arise.
