Welcome to Flora S. Curtis Elementary School where learning is fun! I feel extremely fortunate to be the principal of a school with such wonderful children, a motivated and dedicated staff, and parents who work with us to create an environment that facilitates student learning through a wide variety of innovative and collaborative methods and activities. Our faculty and staff are highly committed to providing the most rewarding education possible and making the process of learning an enjoyable experience. Your child’s education is our top priority!  We look forward to working together with you to make your child’s educational experience a positive one.

The Pawtucket School District Curriculum guides high quality instruction that takes place every day in the classrooms at Curtis Elementary.  Our curriculum is aligned to both the Rhode Island State Standards and the Common Core Standards which promote 21stCentury learning skills that are rigorous and relevent.  Our programs evoke student interest, critical thinking, and learning in a meaningful way in all core areas.

Our teachers are committed to providing lessons that incorporate technology to enhance instruction.  The on-going use of data gives our teachers current information to guide weekly and daily planning to be able to fascilitate targeted instruction. These supports enable all students to show their learning and growth through culturally responsive teaching to meet all students’ needs.

We feel strongly that the high quality programs and instruciton provide a foundation for exceptional learning.  This along with the support of our families and community makes Curtis Elementary an amazing place to learn and work.

To our parents, we believe that your involvement is an essential component to the academic success of your child. I look forward to partnering with you as we foster a sense of growth mind-set anchored in positivity, inclusivity, and encouragement. Our School community is dedicated to providing our students with a well-rounded educational experience that includes student academic achievement and social emotional well being. I am proud of our dedicated staff and enthusiastic learners who have created a positive school environment for all.

Communication between home and school is an important part of our school community. Teachers use KINVO to share information from their classrooms and to send individual communication to parents translated in their own languages. We utilize robo calls and emails through Messenger to share school wide information and reminders that are sent in three languages to keep all stakeholders informed.

In collaboration,
