Principal’s Corner:

Welcome to the 23-24 school year.  We are so excited to be back and see all the students’ smiling faces.  We look forward to a great school year.  We are looking forward to working together to help all of our students succeed.  Please know you can always reach out to me or Ms. Cotoia with any questions or concerns.   Thank you all for a great start to the year.  We look forward to working with all of you and your children.

Grade Level Spotlight:

Our students grades k-5 have made a successful transition into the 23- 24 school year. Students are becoming acclimated to their new classrooms and our school environment. Classrooms are working on rules and routines and developing schedules that will support the whole child approach.

Social emotional skills have begun in classrooms. Social emotional support is integral to the success of all of our students and lessons are completed in class and skill level is carried over to our lunch rooms, our itinerants, and during recess time.

Curvin has a brand new playground. Our students have been enjoying the new space and equipment during their recess time. Our new playground is fully accessible and allows our students to further grow and develop in their fine and gross motor skills in addition to socially with their peers. We are looking forward to using our playground and new built up space this year with our school and our community.

Curvin Highlights:

In art, all students have been designing their portfolio covers to hold their 23-24 SY Art work. The students have selected the tools they are using to create their covers and the art in which represents them and their likes and interests.

Across all grade levels students have been reviewing literacy and mathematics skills as they get ready to apply those skills to this year’s curriculum content.

All students have been engaging in self identification tasks to learn about themselves, their new teachers and their peers. Students have been creating self portraits and completing “all about me” writing tasks.

This section of our newsletter will contain grade level highlights. Check this section frequently to hear our Curvin Highlights and what students are working on everyday.
