During the demolition of McCoy Stadium to make way for the new #ShawmutBuilt Pawtucket High School, the team uncovered a remarkable piece of history—an 85-year-old time capsule sealed within the stadium’s original cornerstone. The demolition marks the first phase in building the new $326 million, 375,000-square-foot high school, the largest school project in Rhode Island’s history, which will serve more than 2,100 students. The team is also continuing the search for a second rumored capsule, believed to contain memorabilia from the longest professional baseball game ever played, using ground-penetrating radar technology. The contents of the time capsule will be unveiled during a community ceremony on June 23, the 44th anniversary of that historic game, in partnership with the City of Pawtucket, the Pawtucket School Department, Colliers Project Leaders, and Jonathan Levi Architects in collaboration with DLR Group.
