Superintendent’s Message

As Interim Superintendent, I want to keep our Pawtucket families informed and engaged in the important work happening in our schools around Teaching and Learning. Over the next few weeks, all Pawtucket students in grades K–12 will take the i-Ready Diagnostic in reading and math.

This assessment is not graded, but it is a powerful tool that helps our teachers understand what each student already knows and where they may need more support. The results allow us to personalize instruction, track progress, and design the right supports and challenges for every child.

One of our district priorities this year is to strengthen core instruction in both mathematics and English Language Arts. A key tool we will use to drive this work is the use of benchmark assessments like i-Ready. These assessments give us the data we need to improve teaching and learning in every classroom and ensure all students are on the path to success.

As a district, we are committed to using data like i-Ready to improve outcomes for all learners. Together with families, teachers, and the community, we can ensure every Pawtucket student continues to grow and succeed.

📘 i-Ready Diagnostic: What Parents Need to Know

Over the next few weeks, all PSD students (K–12) will take the i-Ready Diagnostic in reading and math.
Students take this assessment three times a year so teachers can see growth and plan the best supports.

🔎 What is the i-Ready Diagnostic?

• A computer test that adapts to each student.
• Questions get harder if the student answers correctly, and easier if they answer incorrectly.
• Shows teachers what students already know and what they still need to learn.

🎯 Why is my child taking it?

• It is not a graded test.
• Helps teachers:
  • Personalize lessons
  • Provide the right support or challenges
  • Track progress through the year

🤝 How can I help my child?

• Talk about their results. Celebrate progress and encourage effort.
• Partner with teachers. Ask for ideas, resources, and ways to support learning at home.

Together, we can help every child grow and succeed!

En las próximas semanas, todos los estudiantes de PSD (K–12) tomarán la prueba diagnóstica de i-Ready en lectura y matemáticas.
Los estudiantes toman esta evaluación tres veces al año para que los maestros puedan ver su crecimiento y planificar los mejores apoyos.

🔎 ¿Qué es el Diagnóstico i-Ready?

• Una prueba en la computadora que se adapta a cada estudiante.
• Las preguntas se vuelven más difíciles si el estudiante responde correctamente, y más fáciles si responde incorrectamente.
• Muestra a los maestros lo que los estudiantes ya saben y lo que aún necesitan aprender.

🎯 ¿Por qué mi hijo la está tomando?

• No es una prueba con calificación.
• Ayuda a los maestros a:
  • Personalizar las lecciones
  • Brindar el apoyo o los desafíos adecuados
  • Hacer un seguimiento del progreso durante el año

• Hable sobre sus resultados. Celebre sus logros y anime su esfuerzo.

Nas próximas semanas, todos os alunos do PSD (K–12) farão o teste diagnóstico i-Ready em leitura e matemática.
Os alunos fazem esta avaliação três vezes por ano para que os professores possam ver o progresso e planejar os melhores apoios.

🔎 O que é o Diagnóstico i-Ready?

• Um teste no computador que se adapta a cada aluno.

• As perguntas ficam mais difíceis se o aluno responder corretamente, e mais fáceis se responder incorretamente.

• Mostra aos professores o que os alunos já sabem e o que ainda precisam aprender.

• Ajuda os professores a:
