The Pawtucket School Department is proud to share that Henry J. Winters Elementary School has been recognized as a 2025 Rhode Island Green Ribbon School by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
The Rhode Island Green Ribbon Schools Award honors schools for their outstanding efforts to reduce environmental impact and costs, promote the health and wellness of students and staff, and provide high-quality sustainability education. Despite the U.S. Department of Education’s cancellation of the national Green Ribbon Schools program earlier this year, Rhode Island has continued its long-standing commitment to recognizing schools that exemplify these principles.
Winters Elementary is one of seven schools statewide to receive this distinction in 2025 and is only the second school in Pawtucket to earn this honor. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of school leadership, educators, staff, and district teams to create safe, healthy, and sustainable learning environments that support student success.
We congratulate the Winters Elementary school community on this meaningful achievement and commend their continued commitment to excellence.
