Over the past two years, Pawtucket School educators have shown an inspiring commitment to professional growth through Spanish for Educators, a program requested by staff and created by Melissa Labossiere our Talent Development Coordinator. Since the first cohort in Fall 2023, five cohorts have been completed, with more than 100 educators, administrators, and teaching assistants volunteering their time after work to participate in all eight sessions.

By showing up consistently to learn a new language, participants modeled exactly what we ask of many of our students, perseverance, courage, and a growth mindset. This learning has also expanded educators’ ability to communicate more effectively with Spanish-speaking students and families, strengthening relationships and fostering a more inclusive school community.
