As we continue to monitor conditions related to the extended cold weather and an active Cold Weather Advisory, the Pawtucket School Department will operate on a 1-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, January 30, 2026.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory in effect from 7:00 PM this evening through 11:00 AM Friday, with dangerously low wind chills expected to reach as low as 18–20 degrees below zero. These conditions pose an increased risk of hypothermia and frostbite if proper precautions are not taken.
This delayed start is intended to provide additional time for safer travel and arrival conditions, particularly for students walking to school and to bus stops.
All schools will follow their 1-hour delay schedules, and buses will run one hour later than usual. Families are encouraged to use caution when traveling and ensure students are dressed appropriately for the extreme cold, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and layered clothing.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, support, and cooperation as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our school community.
