Dear Families and Community Members,
We are heartbroken by the tragic event that took place in our city during yesterday’s high school ice hockey event at Lynch Arena. Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, families, staff, and community members who have been affected by this senseless act of violence. We stand in unwavering solidarity with our city and neighboring school communities as they face the profound grief and challenges that accompany such a devastating loss.
In moments such as these, it is essential that we come together in compassion and support, caring for one another with empathy and understanding. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priorities, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a secure and supportive learning environment. We encourage parents and guardians to check in with their children, offering reassurance and space for open conversation. Counseling and support services will be available to any students or staff members who may need them.
We also recognize that members of our own Pawtucket school community were personally impacted by this tragedy. Out of respect for those individuals and their families, we are not sharing specific details at this time. Please know that we are providing care, support, and resources to those affected and will continue to stand beside them in the days ahead.
We are deeply grateful to the City of Pawtucket and to our Pawtucket Police Department for their swift, professional, and diligent response. Their immediate action and continued efforts reflect a profound commitment to protecting our community during this extraordinarily difficult time. Our district is closely monitoring the situation and remains in communication with local authorities and neighboring districts as appropriate.
Please keep the affected families and community in your thoughts as they navigate the days ahead. Together, we will continue to support one another with strength, compassion, and care.
