Dear Pawtucket Families,

As we are now in the cold winter months, we want to take a moment to remind you that inclement
weather or some other unforeseen emergency could impact our ability to have school and may result in
having to cancel school or enact our Virtual Instructional Day Plan. We would like you and your children
to be as prepared as possible for this occurrence. Please note: all notices regarding school closings will
be on our website, robo called or emailed to families, and will also be available on the news channels
and their websites.
The Pawtucket School Department has an approved Virtual Instructional Day Plan with the Rhode Island
Department of Education. It can be found in its entirety on the school department’s website
(www.psdri.net) on the Parents and Guardians page.
It is important to know that should the School Department call for the use of a Virtual Instructional Day
due to inclement weather, it is considered a regular day of school and your child/children will be
expected to log into their classes virtually. Students may use their school department issued
Chromebook or their own personal computer or phone. If you are in need of a student Chromebook for
this purpose and have not already received one, please contact your child’s school. They will assist you
in getting this device for your child.
Please also be aware that should the city call for a parking ban, the parking lots of our schools may be
used but once the parking back is lifted by the city, vehicles will need to be removed from our lots. Any
vehicle left in the parking lots two hours after the parking ban has been lifted will be towed at the
owner’s expense. Our facilities department needs to clear the parking lots in a timely manner so that it
is safe for our students, families, and staff. We appreciate your cooperation with this matter.
Our school faculty and administration will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding
general procedures specific to your child’s school. Please do not hesitate to contact them.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and attention to this matter.
