Accounting is responsible for ensuring all school department funds are accounted for and reconciled with City Hall and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) using GASB accounting standards and RIDE’s Uniform Chart of Accounts.  Accounting also assists with the grant development and implementation in the school department and ensures that both general accounting standards are met for grant funds as well as any and all special restrictions. 

The Accounts Payable Office pays all the bills and invoices for the school department as well as assists with processing purchases, the office also processes receivables. The AP office strives to establish and maintain positive relationships with all customers and suppliers, and to ensure that all authorized invoices are accurately paid in an efficient manner.
